Summer. It is the season that most people love, and the season that we wait for all year around. However, this season screams beach, beach and more beach. So if you have not started getting in shape yet, you should probably start now. Here are a few tips to how to get started before summer season comes around.

START WITH A PLAN
The very first step is to define your overall goal. Do you want a flatter stomach, skinnier legs or just a more toned body? When do you want to reach this goal and is it realistic? Also, plan ahead how many times you want to hit the gym or go for a run – and stick to them. If you have a full time job or education, you might want to plan when you exercise. Some people prefer to do it in the morning, while others in the evening. It truly depends on your energy level, so a good idea is to figure out at what time you get the most out of your workout.

WRITE IT DOWN
Second of, it can be a good idea to write your plan down. If you are an organized and structured person, you will love this. Take two pieces of paper – one for your workout and one for your diet. Write down all the plans and rules you made. E.g. Start the morning with lemon water. Avoid carbs, sugar etc. After you have finished your plans, hang them on the fridge or somewhere in your home, where you will see it everyday.

GET RID OF ALL SNACKS/CANDY IN YOUR HOUSE
Now it is time to clean up in your kitchen. Throw out all the unhealthy food you have or give it to your neighbors (the fatter others are, the skinnier you look lol). When you have cleared your kitchen from any temptations, you can go to the supermarket and get some healthy food. Vegetables and fruit can be a really nice substitute for candy, so make sure to get plenty of that. Also vegetables can be prepared and cooked in many different ways, so you will never get tired of eating the same over and over.

TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT
A good idea can be to share your plan with others. This will help you stick to it, as you will feel more pressured by the people around you. You might even find someone who wants to join in on your plan and get in shape with you. This is the best form of motivation, as you will have a partner helping you and vice versa.

STICK TO IT
This is the last, and probably the most difficult step. It is super easy in the beginning, because it is fun, new and you feel proud of your new lifestyle. However, it will get difficult sticking to it after a week or two. There will be ups and downs, major mood swings, a lot of stress and you will feel like all your time is spent in the gym or in the kitchen preparing meals.

All this can not be prevented, however there are ways to keep yourself motivated and happy. Always have in mind why you are doing this – every time you step on the treadmill, think about how you will feel when it is over. Look for inspiration – I personally love Pinterest and Instagram, which is where I get most of my inspiration from.

… Now you should be ready to start working on you summer body. As a basic rule just remember to eat healthy and exercise daily, then you should be good to go. Good luck.

As a kid, the biggest decision we had to make involved what candy to choose in the candy store. Now it has become a little more complicated. As adults, we have to decide which education to choose, which jobs to take, which city or country to move to, and how to keep track on your spendings. However, this is easier said than done.

When growing up, reality kicks in and you need to make big decisions. While it can be super difficult, there are different ways of making sure that you make the “right” decision.

GET SOME PERSPECTIVE
The first thing you should do before making any decisions, is to get some perspective on the case. We tend to think of decisions as “make-it or break-it” moments, which sometimes can be true. However, in order to make the right decision, you should talk to your family or friends and hear their perspective on the matter. This does not mean that they should decide for you, but it can be a good idea to talk to someone about it. 

YOUR MOTIVATION
It is important to analyze your motivation towards the choice. What keeps you from jumping right into it? Are there any fear or anxiety involved? Are you afraid of failing? It can be a good idea to be true to yourself and give yourself time to reflect. Try to ask yourself; What is the worst thing that could happen?

BREATH AND GO FOR A WALK
One thing that most often helps when you are stuck, is to take a break and get away from it. Go for a walk or a jog – go outside and think about something else. This gives you time to reflect in order to make the right decision. The last thing you want is to make an irrational choice, especially if it might be life changing.  

VISUALIZE THE FUTURE
Try to visualize the potential situations. Look into every aspect of the decision and imagine how it would be in the future. What are the consequences? And the advantages. This will help you towards making a decision, as you will have a somewhat clear view of what impact the decision will have on your life.

EVALUATE
In order to determine whether the choice is right for you, there are some questions you could ask yourself:

  • Will it make me happy?
  • It is a step towards my goal?
  • Is it realistic?
  • Am I capable?

DECISION
If you have been through all the above mentioned steps, you should have a clear answer by now. If you still are unsure of what to do, the best advice would be to just decide. Follow your heart and do what you think will make you happy. And again, what is the worst thing that can happen? Sometimes in order to become successful, you have to dare to take chances. Otherwise you will never know…

We all want to succeed at something in life. We all have dreams and goals, and everyday we have a chance to get one step closer. Yet, sometimes we get too distracted, and we lose sight. Sometimes it can be difficult to focus on what is really important in order to reach your destination. 

So how can you work most efficiently? How can you reach your goals? 

First of all, you have to decide what is most important, and what activities are most beneficial for you in order to get there. There are only 24 hours a day, which means that you must find a balance between everything you do, and sometimes that can be difficult.

My advice would be to focus on one thing. The key to productivity is having your priorities straight, and focusing on the most important task. Also, it is not just about being productive – when you focus on one important task everyday, you will become happier, less stressed and you will have more time to spend with your family and friends.

This is easier said than done. So how can you decide what is most important and what task you should focus on? Well you can ask yourself: What is my overall goal? After you have determined it, you can divide it into smaller milestones. If you like to be structured, then make a list or write some small notes. You can also assess whether a certain activity would help you perform better or help you get closer to your overall goal.

As long as you work hard and you have the right mental attitude, you will reach your goals.

Appearance and personality do not always go hand in hand. A politician might look like the typical conservative politician and act like one as well. Whereas a supermodel might appear to be good looking and healthy, however she might be interested in criminal law or something unexpected rather than working out all the time.

And then there is me. According to some, I might look innocent and cute, whereas others might think that I look like a bitch. The truth is my personality is neither one of them. 

Often I get told that my personality does not add up with the way I look. Especially when I meet new people, they are surprised to hear about my previous life experience, my current projects and my goals for the future. They are completely amazed by the determination I have regarding starting up my own business, and how hard working I am. So basically they are saying: “You look like a bitch, but act like a business man.” To some extent it is understandable, as I wear a lot of makeup, I have long pink nails (most of the time at least), and I do not care about wearing Ugg’s during the summer. On the other hand, I wish people would disregard all of that and be more open towards getting to know me.

So what have I learned from this? Well, today I am more vigilant towards judging people based on the way they look. It sounds really wrong when writing this, and I have considered about 100 times whether or not to write it – but a few years ago, I would refuse to hang out with people who did not look in a particular way. Those who know me really well, they can agree to the fact that I would be embarrassed to even walk the streets of Copenhagen with someone who did not dress or look to a certain standard. Luckily I have changed, and because of that I am more open minded when meeting new people.

… And what can you learn from this? Hopefully this can give you some inspiration, and show you that not everything is as it seems. Sometimes when you are a little curious and less selfish, you can meet some great people who might end up being a good friend or a new business partner. You never know.
